Privacy policy

JuniorRoute (“we”, “us”) helps students build personalized plans to break into tech. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be readable. If anything is unclear, email hello@juniorroute.com.

Who can use JuniorRoute

JuniorRoute is for people aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we delete it. Students aged 13 to 17 can use the free features, and need verifiable consent from a parent or guardian before purchasing a paid plan or joining mentorship.

What we collect

• Account information: name, email address and profile photo from your sign-in provider (email, Google or GitHub).
• Profile and quiz answers: birth year, school stage, interests, skills, goals and availability, used to personalize your plan.
• Content you create: roadmap progress, applications, contacts you choose to track, resumes, and mock interview transcripts.
• Parent or guardian email, for students under 18 who request paid features.
• Billing information is handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We never see or store your full card number.
• Basic technical data like device type and pages visited, to keep the service secure and working.

How we use it

• To generate and update your personalized roadmap, interview feedback and other AI features.
• To run your account, provide support and process payments.
• To keep JuniorRoute safe, prevent abuse and enforce our terms.
• To improve the product using aggregated, de-identified data.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use personal information of users under 18 for targeted advertising.

AI processing

Some features send your quiz answers, resume text or interview responses to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate results. This data is used to provide the feature to you. Please don't enter sensitive information (such as government ID numbers or health information) into AI features.

Who we share with

Service providers that help us run JuniorRoute: hosting (Vercel), database and authentication (Supabase), AI (Anthropic), payments (Stripe) and email delivery. They may only use your data to provide services to us. Mentors and partners only see information you choose to share with them.

Your choices

• You can view and edit your profile at any time.
• You can delete your account and associated data from your settings page.
• Parents and guardians of users under 18 can contact us to review or delete their child's information.

Security

We use encryption in transit, row-level access controls on our database so users can only access their own data, and limited staff access. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting student data seriously.
